Aspartame, AKA NutraSweet, Equal, E951, AminoSweet, Neotame, Canderel, Naturtaste, Benevia, Spoonful and under numerous other aliases is an addictive excitoneurotoxic, genetically engineered carcinogenic drug and adjuvant masquerading as an additive. The chemical liberates methyl alcohol, (methanol} the deadliest of the alcohols, commonly known as wood alcohol. It's so toxic a single ounce can kill or blind an adult, and it's a cumulative poison that alters the dopamine system of the brain creating addiction. The methanol, CH4O, loses two hydrogens to become CH2O, formaldehyde, which is next metabolized to create CH2O2, formic acid: fire-ant venom. The Trocho Study in Barcelona in 1998 proved that the formaldehyde converted from the free methyl alcohol embalms living tissue and damages DNA. When you damage DNA you can destroy humanity. Dr. Maria Alemany told Betty Martini, D.Hum, Founder of Mission Possible Intl that aspartame would kill 200 million people. But that's just the beginning.
Half of aspartame is phenylalanine, which floods the brain, a neurotoxin, lowering the seizure threshold. It depletes serotonin triggering psychiatric and behavioral problems and interacts with all drugs and vaccines. Today our children are medicated instead of educated. H. J. Dr.Louis Elsas, an eminent Pediatric Professor, Genetics, told Congress on 11/3/87 he had spent 25 years in the biomedical sciences "trying to prevent mental retardation and birth defects caused by excess phenylalanine. And herein lies my basic concern, that aspartame is in fact a well known neurotoxin and teratogen which, in some as yet undefined dose, will both reversibly in the adult and irreversibly in the developing child or fetal brain, produce adverse effects."
The third component is aspartic acid, a powerful neurotransmitter that excites the brain's neurons into hyperactivity until they exhaust and die. So there you have it, a bouquet of brain and neurological destroyers packed in little blue envelopes, sitting on every restaurant table in the western world, harvesting enough money to buy whatever bureaucratic blessings are necessary to kill us.
It was Dr. John Olney, a world renowned neuroscientist who founded the field of neuroscience called excitotoxicity who tried to prevent the approval of aspartame. He had done studies on aspartic acid in 1970 and found that aspartic acid, 40% of aspartame had caused lesions in the brains of mice. Dr. Olney said birth defects would be a given if approved and unfortunately his prophecy was fulfilled in October of 2010: "The European Environmental Association has projected that with the rise of autism caused by toxic foods like Aspartame, MSG, Fluoride, and environmental degradation, by 2013 no one will be born in the Western World that does not to some degree have autism. Our board of AAEM, American Academy of Environmental Medicine and Dr. William Rae, director of the Dallas Environmental Clinic agreed in open discussion at the October 2010 annual meeting." Aspartame produces the deadly brain tumor agent diketopiperazine. Such malignancies now sprout like mushrooms across America. In original studies it also triggered uterine, ovarian, pancreatic, thyroid and testicular tumors. The 3-year Italian Ramazzini Study on 1,800 rats confirmed original FDA findings that this chemical is "a multipotential carcinogen" causing leukemia, lymphoma, cancer of the kidney and peripheral nerves. Only rats fed aspartame developed malignant brain tumors. It was peer reviewed by 7 world experts. This excellent research was exceptional in that it did not kill the rats at the customary 24 months, but allowed them to die naturally. Cancer is a disease common to the final third of life.
Said Neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock M.D., author of Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills, "The new study released in the European Journal of Oncology by Morando Soffritti and co-workers should terrify mothers and all those consuming aspartame sweetened products. This was a carefully done study, which clearly demonstrated a statistically significant increase in several types of lymphomas and leukemias in rats. Both of these malignancies have increased significantly in this country since the widespread use of aspartame.
"This study confirmed the previous study by Dr. Trocho and co-workers, which also found the formaldehyde from aspartame to be damaging to cellular DNA and that this damage was accumulative. The type of damage was a duplicate of that associated with cancers. Along with this most recent study, this means that drinking a single diet cola sweetened with aspartame every day could increase one's risk of developing a lymphoma or leukemia."
Today two more studies have been done by the Ramazzini Institute, Dr. Morando Soffritti. One showed that if a pregnant women used it and the baby survived the child could grow up to cancer. Furthermore, it only took a small amount of aspartame to cause cancer.

Aspartame destroys families. Its an endocrine disrupting agent, stimulates prolactin, changes the menses and causes infertility. Women who desperately want children throng fertility clinics sipping Diet Coke, the reason they're there. Dr. Madelon Price, Biochemist, explains this infertility: "I was concerned about aspartic acid, one of the major breakdown products. So many parents never have the children they long for because aspartame is peddled without even the decency of a warning. But let's say the woman stops using it for a time and does get pregnant. Dr. James Bowen says, "At every point in the fertility process aspartame destroys, beginning with the gleam in Mom and Pop's eyes: it ruins female sexual response and induces male sexual dysfunction. Beyond this, aspartame disrupts fetal development by aborting it or inducing defects. And if a live child is born aspartame may have heinously damaged the DNA of the baby, cursing future generations."
Psychiatrist Dr. Ralph Walton said, "Aspartame is a multipotential toxin and carcinogen. The dipeptide component of the molecule can alter brain chemistry, significantly changing the ratio of catecholamines to indolamines, with resultant lowering of seizure threshold, production of carbohydrate craving and in vulnerable individuals leading to panic, depressive and cognitive symptoms."

In an effort to save the children, aspartame experts have written new reports on how it destroys their brains so we can email the vital information to schools, pediatricians and OB-GYN. Dr. Roberts wrote the medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic, www.sunsentpress.com, and discusses children's abnormal behavior from this toxin. "Irritability, aggression, hyperactivity ("the need to keep moving"), crying, whining, impulsivity, slurred speech, and learning problems have been associated with or aggravated by the use of aspartame products. Some concerned teacher-correspondents attributed the increased frequency of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and declining school grades to their widespread consumption. Aspartame ruined my relationship with my family and I wasn't trusted at school, now I hate them for what they put me through. The school decided that sugar soft drinks were bad for the students health so decided to remove all but the diet products from the cafeteria, I personally enjoy a sugar infused cola that has a taste diet drinks lack, they taste too artificial.
I started to drink the diet cola, I had no bad effects for a couple of days. Then by the next week, half an hour after lunch I would get severe itching in my legs and arms, so much so that it left blood marks in scratch lines across my limbs, I tried so hard not to start scratching as I couldn't stop them for about an hour if I started.
To make matters worse I would also slur my speech, still unaware of what was going on. The second week my parents were called in and I was told that I would be under supervision at all times in school and my parents were not going to let me leave the house, they proceed to rip apart my room and have me sleep on the floor in their room.
Why? I was being accused of using Crystal Meth !!! I hope you can even imagine how I felt about all this; I huddled up in a corner crying at one point wishing I wasn't born. I spent lunch in the corner of the staff room with a bag of crisps and my diet coke, again as soon as I left the room for lessons I itched like crazy. I have to miss out some details here because they upset me so much.
After being drug tested for a couple of days, police interrogating me, asking me who the dealer was and referring me to a shrink which I saw for another week, all this was going on, my life was so bad I just wanted to die.
This is where I met someone I will never forget, The Janitor. He saw me and said "are you alright there son"? I just started crying, so he took me to the supply room, sat me on a box and I poured out my heart to him, I clicked the ring pull on my drink and took a large gulp, He just stared at the can for what seemed like forever.
He snatched it off me, grabbed my shirt and pulled me up to the Headmasters office, he kicked in the door and started screaming at the headmaster. I was all over the place I felt so dizzy, emotional, tired and out of it and I still didn't really know what the hell was going on. He smashed down the can and the diet coke sprayed all over the Head's desk.
I caught bits of the conversation, - "It's the xxxx in these drinks - It doesn't take a genius to work that out for God's sake - Don't you know what's in this." From here on he started on about his daughter having PKU and aspartame, he finished with reminding the head in front of about 20 staff surrounding outside the door where i was now stood, that the school in fact was responsible for my problems by removing sugar drinks from the cafeteria and was liable, and should expect to be sued.
He calmed down came out and walked me outside, he gave me his phone to ring my parents who then came to the school. The rest is history!!! I would like to thank Mark Winslow, the Janitor who actually saved my life, God knows what I would have done if he hadn't stepped in. We did gain a settlement from the school and gave a generous sum to Mark as he did lose his job and was unemployed for a couple of weeks. He and his family now regularly meet up with us in the summer for BBQ's and we couldn't ask for better friends.
I hope my experience is of benefit to others, I think my reaction must have been very severe but if it can do that to you then it shouldn't be in our foods. Matthew Hobson.
When you visited Florida you dined with Dr. H. J. Roberts and his wife, Carol, who gave The Princess of Wales the key to the city of West Palm Beach. Dr. Roberts is the world expert on aspartame, declared it a global plague and published the 1038 page medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic, which he dedicated to me.

In it attorney James Turner explains how Rumsfeld got it approved after the FDA said no. As late as 1995 FDA published a list of 92 reactions to aspartame from over 10,000 volunteered complaints. Aspartame can precipitate diabetes, aggravate and simulate diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, destroy the optic nerve, cause diabetic convulsions, and interacts with insulin. It also makes you crave carbohydrates so you gain weight.
The Trocho Study shows that the formaldehyde converted from the free methyl alcohol accumulates in the cells and damages DNA, with most toxicity in the liver, but substantial amounts in the fat cells, kidneys, brain and retina. Last month I visited a researcher in Barcelona who was threatened by the NutraSweet Company for exposing the pre-embalming by aspartame.
Schools mistakenly advocate diet drinks exclusively. Matthew's case is no doubt repeated by thousands of innocent children in UK schools. Neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D., explains that reactions to aspartame are not allergic but toxic like arsenic and cyanide. I'm inclosing his lecture on aspartame.
This isn't a rare case. Dr. Baret called me from the Dominican Republic. He changed the diet of 360 small children from milk to aspartame juice and almost all of them responded with abnormal behavior, cognitive problems. Knowing this was the only change he had made he re-searched aspartame and called me. I had him remove the toxin from their diet and four days later all the children returned to normal. It is clear that if this insane practice is not stopped Matthew's case will become the norm.

The Italian Ramazzini Study has confirmed what FDA knew from the beginning, that aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen. This is a foremost European research center. The tale of how aspartame got approved in England may be unknown to Your Royal Highness: G. D. Searle Co knew they couldn't get it in other countries if it was known our FDA tried to have them indicted for fraud. They made a deal with a Professor Paul Turner in Food Standards who approved aspartame without anyone knowing. No studies were ever done in the UK. Parliament discovered it, and their dismay was reported in The Guardian. Nevertheless, approval wasn't rescinded.

Robin Goodwin's Falkland Island heartrending story is attached. His wife had an aspartame brain tumor and his daughter suffered seizures daily for 18 years until they learned aspartame caused them.

Dr. James Bowen began slurring his words and was thought to either be on alcohol or drugs. He was admitted to a mental hospital but in the hospital he was no longer on aspartame and the symptoms disappeared. He wrote:
I started using Aspartame in April 1983, when the Aspartame Lo Cal Kool Aid was first marketed. In 2 days it gave me a toxic cardiomyopathy so severe I had to then stop swimming. I then immediately lost my balance, so also had to immediately also stop going off the diving board. Deep chemical depression followed, terminating in Lou Gehrig's disease. In just six weeks of use it aged me thirty years! When I stopped using it I had many severe withdrawal symptoms, and was then diagnosed as "Bulbar Palsy."
MY RN wife was screaming at me: "Jim get off the Aspartame! It is killing you!" (I was so completely brain washed by Aspartame, that I could not even believe her!)
Aspartame is very highly crafted poison, cleverly combining about ten different poisons, including :1. phenylalanine isolate poisoning. (Not all alike with dietary sources!), 2. The methyl ester-formaldehyde-formic acid- carbon monoxide toxic axis. 3.Methylated aspartic acid, (An extreme excitotoxin, implemented in many and vast brain damages! Including the common neural degenerative diseases!) 4. Diketopiperazine poisoning: Which the first toxicity studies (at 1/1000 the FDA legally requisite test dosage for only sixty days,) caused the highest incidence of brain tumor in rats that any chemical ever tested at any dosage ever caused.(The first 6 months of Aspartame soft drinks, saw a 10% increase in USA human brain cancers rates, and a 30% jump of our diabetes occurrence rate!)
When the FDA first refused licensure for Aspartame they did so, because it rapidly chelates poisonous metals out of containers and then carries them on in a totally absorbable condition, it couldn't be proven safe and triggered brain tumors. It also triggered many other types of tumors from mammary to testicular. It should be noted that Pepsi and Coke delivery drivers certify that sugar pops never damage their cans, while Aspartame beverages frequently do.) James D. Bowen MD

Searle's problem was they couldn't get studies to show safety. For example, in the Bressler Report: http://www.mpwhi.com/aspartame_news.htm you read where they would excise brain tumors from the rats, put them back in the study and after they died resurrected them back on paper. They even filtered out neoplasms to hide them from the FDA. Repeatedly Searle was caught in this criminal activity.
On January 10, 1977 in a 33 page letter, FDA Chief Counsel Richard Merrill recommended to the Justice Department Attorney Sam Skinner that a grand jury investigate Searle for "apparent violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, 21 USC 331 (e), and the False Reports to the Government Act, 18 U.S.C. 1001, for "their willful and knowing failure to make reports to the Food and Drug Administration required by the Act, 21 U.S.C 355 (i) and making false statements in reports of animal studies conducted to establish the safety of aspartame." The FDA called special attention to studies investigating the effect of NutraSweet on monkeys and hamsters.
Searle was caught dead to rights, so they hired Skinner, made him a deal he couldn't refuse. So the former Justice Department prosecutor became a defender. Next at bat as U. S. Prosecutor was William Conlon, who promptly switched sides too. By then the statute of limitations had expired. Searle knew they couldn't win the case so they simply hired the prosecutors. The Godfather hired the District Attorneys!
Nevertheless the FDA had no intention of approving aspartame. The fraud was so great that Dr. John Olney (who with James Turner fought against approval of aspartame) told Searle to do studies in his lab so he could see that they were done honestly, with supervision. Dr. Olney believed the FDA wouldn't approve aspartame because the studies showed it produced brain damaged. What he didn't anticipate is that Searle didn't submit these findings to the FDA.
January 30, 1980 the Public Board of Inquiry revoked Searle's petition for approval declaring that they had "not been presented with proof of reasonable certainty that aspartame is safe for use as a food additive." Searle had spent $17 million on an aspartame factory and had no intention of giving up, poison or no. At this point they hired Donald Rumsfeld who said he would call in his markers and get it approved anyway. What were those markers? President Reagan had told Rumsfeld he would be nominated for vice president, but instead selected Bush number 1.
The day after Reagan took office he appointed Dr. Arthur Hull Hayes as the new FDA Commissioner, to over-rule the Board of Inquiry. Reagan knew it would take 30 days to get Hayes to the FDA, so he wrote an Executive Order making the FDA powerless to do anything about aspartame. At 3 AM that night a member of Reagan's staff called the FDA Commissioner Jere Goyan and fired him. Once aspartame was on the market there was outrage as consumers were diagnosed with seizures, multiple sclerosis and blindness from the free methyl alcohol releases. Senator Orrin Hatch, on Monsanto's payroll, obstructed hearings on aspartame for years, but there were 3 Congressional hearings from 1985 to l987. Hatch was on Monsanto's payroll, and kept the bill in committee that would put a moratorium on aspartame until NIH completed independent studies on the flood of aspartame problems they were seeing: seizures, blindness, headaches, sexual dysfunction, behavioral problems, especially in children, drug interactions and birth defects.
About that time Dr. James Bowen wrote FDA that "aspartame is mass poisoning of the American public and 70 countries" - today over 100. http://www.dorway.com/drbowen.txt The good doctor wrote: "For this reason, I am opposed to labeling aspartame content of food and drinks. To do so would imply that the government is taking some sort of responsible action....when the only responsible action would be to immediately take aspartame off the market, fully disclose its toxicities, offer full compensation to the injured, public and criminally prosecute anyone who participated in the fraudulent placement of aspartame on the marketplace."
How was the new FDA Commissioner, Arthur Hayes, get rewarded for over-ruling the Board of Inquiry? He was hired as a consultant to NutraSweet's PR Agency on a 10-year contract at $1,000.00 a day, and nobody's heard a peep from him since, he got lockjaw. Who ever heard of a PR guy who won't talk?
Now they began funding professional organizations ladies-of-the-evening like the American Diabetes Assn, American Dietetic Assn and numerous others to propagandize the public with touting asparshame. Of course they also threatened scientists whose studies identified the toxicity of this poison. In the UPI Investigation Dr. Wurtman was threatened if he did studies on aspartame and seizures he would lose his funding. He capitulated. ILSI, the International Life Sciences Institute, was born in 1978 as a "research" front for our favorite poisoners. Its board members are from Coke, Pepsi, Searle, Monsanto and the rest of the usual suspects. If a university won't play their way the get no pay, that is to say, funding for fake "research".
Over the years many independent studies have been done. The manufacturers say 200 studies that aspartame is safe as rain. Some of those were the ones FDA found fraudulent and sought prosecution for, and others were simply bought and paid for quack studies from rubber duck labs.

Another impeccable "study" involved one-day consumption of, believe it or not: a single capsule of aspartame. Tantamount to smelling the bottle. The got it peer reviewed with their power. So when consumers complain of seizures they say "we did studies and aspartame doesn't cause seizures".

DR. MORANDO SOFFRITTI, lead researcher on two groundbreaking long-term aspartame studies. He was recently honored at New York's Mt Sinai School of Medicine with the Irving J Selikoff Award For his outstanding contributions to the identification of environmental and industrial carcinogens and his promotion of independent scientific research. Reviewing his two impeccable aspartame studies. Dr. Soffritti explains:
The first ERF study (2005) was conducted on 1800 Sprague-Dawley rats (100-150/per sex/per group) In order to simulate daily human intake, aspartame was added to the standard rat diet in quantities of 5000, 2500, 100, 500, 20, 4, and 0 mg/Kg of body weight. Treatment of the animals began at 8 weeks of age and continued until spontaneous death. The results show that APM causes a statistically significant, dose-related increase of lymphomas/leukemias and malignant tumors of the renal pelvis in females and malignant tumors of peripheral nerves in males. These results demonstrate for the first time that APM is a carcinogenic agent, capable of inducing malignancies at various dose levels, including those lower than the current acceptable daily intake (ADI) for humans (50 mg/kg of body weight in the US, 40 mg/kg of body weight in the EU).
The second ERF study (2007) was conducted on 400 Sprague-Dawley rats (70-95/per sex/per group). In order to simulate daily human intake, aspartame was added to the standard rat diet in quantities of 100, 20, and 0 mg/Kg of body weight. Treatment of the animals began on the 12th day of fetal life until natural death. The results of the second study show an increased incidence of lymphomas/leukemias in female rats with respect to the first study. Moreover, the study shows that when lifespan exposure to APM begins during fetal life, the age at which lymphomas/leukemias develop in females is anticipated. For the first time, a statistically significant increase in mammary cancers in females was also observed in the second study. The results of this transplacental carcinogenicity bioassay not only confirm, but also reinforce the first experimental demonstration of APMs multipotential carcinogenicity.
Over six years ago I petitioned the FDA to ban aspartame. The FDA has 180 days to answer it. They refuse, obviously because I'm using their own words, and they don't know how to get around the fact that everything is a matter of record. If it wasn't so criminal one would have to laugh at their propaganda - the idea that someone might even consider believing them. For instance, they will tell you there is just a small amount of methanol, and there is more in oranges. What they don't say is that in oranges that it is accompanied by ethanol which is the classic antidote for methanol toxicity and takes it out of your body safely. There are efforts now in states and countries to rid the planet of aspartame. It is genetically engineered. The manufacturers are get people in high places addicted. When I testified to the Senate in New Mexico, half the senators were sipping Diet Coke. Presidents Clinton and Bush were addicted. Methanol is classified as a narcotic, it causes chronic methanol poisoning. This effects the dopamine system of the brain producing addiction.
I've lectured in other countries and I can tell you people are sick and dying the world over on this poison. It would be great to see it banned from California. First of all its illegally on the market because it violates the Delaney Amendment. Here are comments from a FDA toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross, to Congress on 8/1/85:
Dr. Gross testified that at least one of Searle's studies "has established beyond ANY REASONABLE DOUBT that aspartame is capable of inducing brain tumors in experimental animals and that this predisposition of it is of extremely high significance. ... In view of these indications that the cancer causing potential of aspartame is a matter that had been established WAY BEYOND ANY REASONABLE DOUBT, one can ask: What is the reason for the apparent refusal by the FDA to invoke for this food additive the so-called Delaney Amendment to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act?"
The Delaney Amendment makes it illegal to allow any residues of cancer causing chemicals in foods. In his concluding testimony Gross asked, "Given the cancer causing potential of aspartame how would the FDA justify its position that it views a certain amount of aspartame as constituting an allowable daily intake or 'safe' level of it? Is that position in effect not equivalent to setting a 'tolerance' for this food additive and thus a violation of that law? And if the FDA itself elects to violate the law, who is left to protect the health of the public?" Congressional Record SID835:131 (August 1, l985)

Consumer power is winning the war against this toxin. Holland Sweetener, the largest European aspartame producer closed in 2006. Another European maker also quit. In Japan Tosh stopped making it as well. Merisant, in the USA went bankrupt for $230,000,000 in January 2009. 47 members of Parliament signed for a ban in the UK. There is continuing effort to get banned in the Philippines. Romania banned it in the early 90's because it's carcinogenic. And now the European Food Safety Authority is doing a review.
Today no drug is safe if the consumer is using aspartame because of the interaction due to damage to the mitochondria. It's used in hospitals because of the dietitians making patients even sicker.
