It's fortunate the author watched Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World, so the toxicity of aspartame is understood. There is no safe dose, its not even an additive but an addictive excitoneurotoxic carcinogenic drug. This new study mentioned in this press release confirms again the carcinogenicity of aspartame even in low doses. The Ramazzini Institute is one of the most prestigious independent research organization in Europe. They have proved once and for all aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen and never should have been approved for human consumption. As you will read, it's illegally on the market. The press release contains the URL for the Board of Inquiry Report of the FDA that revoked the petition for approval. Aspartame was not released on the market because of scientific approval, but rather political chicanery by Don Rumsfeld.

It alarms me that a comment is made in this article that consumers don't know which sweetener they are consuming.

There is a safe sweetener called Just Like Sugar which is probably available now in India. You can check by emailing email@example.com We asked for an analysis and its only chicory and orange peel, and Vitamin C and Calcium. Chicory has been used for 70 years to benefit the overall condition of diabetics. On the other hand, aspartame can actually precipitate diabetes, simulates and aggravates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, destroys the optic nerve, causes diabetics to go into convulsions, and interacts with insulin. Stevia is also safe.
Saccharin has been on the market for 100 years but is a coal tar product, a chemical. I personally would never recommend a chemical.
