Subject: Fwd: Unreal! (Tufts Health & Nutrition Letter Lies About Aspartame)

Dear Tufts:

I have seen information from Tufts for years defending the aspartame issue and I'm ashamed of you people. If millions of people can find out information on the deadly effects of this neurotoxin so can Tufts which means you simply defend industry.

As it happens, world expert H. J. Roberts, M.D., who declared aspartame disease to be a global plague and published the medical text, Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic (www.sunsentpress.com or 1-800-827-7991) went to Tufts University College of Liberal Arts. He graduated cum laude from the medical school in l947. He internship was there and he was an assistant resident l948-49. If anything, Tufts should be honored and declaring that this world renowned physician who declared Aspartame Disease to be a global plague, testified before congress, and took care of victims in the trenches of medical practice for 20 years, came from Tufts. And naturally when a news letter uses the name Tufts the first thing people think of is the medical school, although I was told after considerable difficulty getting any type of a number that this is Tufts Media.

Here we have the shame of a coverup from Tufts when aspartame disease is now known the world over. We have operations of Mission Possible, of which I am the founder, in every state and 30 countries of the world that do nothing but warn victims off the toxin. There are 2 million sites on the Internet warning victims.

There is a library of books exposing aspartame including Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills by neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D. http:// www.russellblaylockmd.com Talking about the MS and Aspartame Connection you can read his report at http://www.wnho.net/ms_and_aspartame.htm This issue is also prominently on the front cover of Dr. Roberts medical text and his report is on http://www.dorway.com/nomarkle.html

As to lupus, I'm sure simply looking at the components of aspartame should be enough for a medical researchers to understand how this can be caused. But since you act like you're so in the dark I'll let Dr. James Bowen explain it to you. "The ability of methyl alcohol/formaldehyde to create antigenicity especially as combined in aspartame molecules is so great as to cause severe autoimmune reactions to the tissues deformed by formaldehyde polemerization, adduct formation. The immune system turns against the victim's tissues: Lupus."

Aspartame liberates free methyl alcohol which converts to formaldehyde. Dr. Blaylock writing about this said: "The study by Trocho, Pardo and co-workers, have demonstrated that following aspartame ingestion, significant amounts of formaldehyde accumulate in the tissues. Formaldehyde is known to bind strongly to proteins and nucleic acids, forming adducts that are extremely difficult to eliminate through normal metabolic pathways."

Further he said: "In this study, they demonstrated that labeled methanol (as formaldehyde ) accumulated in high concentrations in the liver (50%) and in lower, but substantial, concentrations in the kidney, adipose tissue, brain and retina. Within the cell, they found large amounts located within the DNA. It was interesting to note that these doses were lower than that used in toxicity studies. Previous studies have shown that very high doses of aspartame may not cause acute symptomalogy. This study indicates that the damage may necessitate longer periods of time to manifest itself, and that the eventual effects can be quite deleterious."

"The doses used were within those recommended by the FDA as ADI for humans. This is especially of concern in children who may consume doses of aspartame as high as 75 to 90mg/kg. It is also important to nose that in this study, the formaldehyde was accumulative as were its injury to cellular proteins and DNA. In the real situation, humans are exposed to repeated doses of aspartame found in many foods, drinks medicines and chewing gums."

He also said, "An earlier study by Shephard and co-workers, it was found that aspartame is nitrosated within the gut and that this nitrosation of the amine group is "quite cytotoxic" and represents a moderately strong mutagen in the Ames test. Another study by Sorg, Willis and co-workers is also alarming. In this study, it was found that prolonged exposure to low concentrations of formaldehyde could cause chemical sensitization to cocaine, via a limbic mechanism. With increasing reports of multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome, one must be concerned about chronic, low dose formaldehyde exposure via aspartame."

Come forward to recent studies. The Cancer Research Center of the European Foundation of Oncology and Environmental Sciences in Bologna, Italy reported in July a long term study to evaluate the potential carcinogenic effects of aspartame demonstrates the chemical sweetener "induces an increase in lymphomas and leukemias in female rats." Dr. Blaylock mentioned that "this study confirmed the previous study by Dr. Trocho and co-workers, which also found the formaldehyde breakdown product of aspartame to be damaging to cellular DNA and that this damage was accumulative. The type of damage was a duplicate of that associated with cancers. Along with this most recent study, this means that drinking a single diet cola sweetened with aspartame everyday could increase one's risk of developing a lymphoma or leukemia."

Further Dr. Blaylock said: "They also found an increased incidence of malignant brain tumors, even though it was not statistically significant. This does not mean there is no association to brain tumors, since only the animals exposed to aspartame developed the tumors. With children and pregnant women drinking the largest amount of diet colas, this puts their children at the greatest risk of developing one of those horrible diseases. Their study found that even low doses of aspartame could cause these malignancies; yet, the higher the dose, the more cancers that were seen."

Dr. Blaylock said this study should terrify mothers and all those consuming aspartame sweetened products.

The Division of Clinical Epidemiology of the University of Texas Health Center at San Antonio reported a study by Sharon Fowler, MPH, that reviewed eight years of data confirming a diet soda link to obesity. We've known this for years since Dr. Wurtman of MIT said that aspartame makes you crave carbohydrates so you gain weight. Read his affidavit in the protest of the National Soft Drink Association on http://www.dorway.com/nsda.html

As to Dr. Hattan of the FDA, he's been getting copies of case histories and information from me for years and he's getting a copy of this note as well. He knows exactly how deadly aspartame is and should be fired from the FDA for lying. He also knows that the FDA revoked the petition for approval and said: "..the Board concludes that approval of aspartame for use in foods should be withheld at least until the question concerning its possible oncogenic potential has been resolved by further experiments. The Board has not been presented with proof of a reasonable certainty that aspartame is safe for use as a food additive under its intended conditions of use. The foregoing constitutes the Board's findings of fact and conclusions of law. Therefore, it is ORDERED that:

  1. Approval of the food additive petition for aspartame (FAP 3A2885) be and it is hereby withdrawn.

  2. The study of the effectiveness of the regulation for aspartame, 21 CFR 172.804, is hereby vacated and the regulation revoked.

  3. Pursuant to 21 CFR 12.125, exceptions to this Initial Decision must be received by the Hearing Clerk within 30 days; replies to exceptions must be received by the Hearing Clerk not more than 20 days thereafter. In the absence of the timely filing of exceptions, or of a review notice by the Commissioner under 21 CFR 12.125 (f0, this Initial Decision will become the Final Decision of the Commissioner upon the expiration of the data for filing for appeal or review, and shall be effective upon publication of a notice to that effect in the Federal Register. Dated this 30th day of September, l980. It was signed by Walle J. H. Nauta, M.D., Ph.D., Chairman, Peter W. Lampert, M.D., Member, and Vernon R. Young, Ph.D., Member.

Dr. Hattan knows the entire history of aspartame and how the FDA had asked that the original manufacturer, Searle, be indicted for fraud.

January 10, l977: In a 33 page letter, FDA Chief Counsel Richard Merrill recommended to U.S. Attorney Sam Skinner that a grand jury investigate Searle for "apparent violations of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, 21 U.S.C. 331 (e), and the False Reports to the Government Act, l8 U.S.C. 1001, for "their willful and knowing failure to make reports to the Food and Drug Administration required by the Act, 21 U.S.C. 355 (i), and for concealing material facts and making false statements in reports of animal studies conducted to establish the safety of aspartame." The FDA called special attention to studies investigating the effect of NutraSweet on monkeys and hamsters.

The one thing that no one will disagree with is that the manufacturers of aspartame have bottomless checkbooks and there are a lot of prostitutes in this world. The only reason Searle was not indicted is that both U.S. Prosecutors Sam Skinner and William Conlon hired on with the defense team and the statute of limitations expired.

Ask Dr. Hattan how long he has been with the FDA and you'll know he knows the entire history, not to mention he's been reading it for years from me. This history has just been published in one of the most prestigious magazines in Europe, cover story, "The Shocking Story of the World's Best Selling Sweetener": http://www.wnho.net/the_ecologist_aspartame_report.htm by Pat Thomas. We are hearing raves over this story around the world. We salute the Ecologist for truth and concern for the health of the world population! Take a lesson, Tufts. Why is aspartame on the market today if the FDA revoked the petition for approval? Because of politics and not science. It's even on film. Get a copy of Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World about aspartame - http://www.docworkers.com Click on this clip to see how aspartame got approved, http://www.soundandfury.tv/pages/Rumsfeld2.html

I know that Dr. Roberts has written you in the past just as I have. I know that Tufts knows and that is the reason I'm asking that this letter be posted to web. I expect you to immediately apologize to the American people for stumbling them, so that they can use what the European Ramazzini Foundation of Oncology has termed at a recent conference, a multipotential carcinogen. They have added to the results of this study cancer of the kidney and peripheral nerves, cranial. Should Tufts ever dare to mislead the public again, they will be referred to this letter.

All this propaganda has been answered for over two decades. And this business about their being more methanol in tomatoes than aspartame is absolutely foolish. From Aspartame: Methanol and the Public Health, Journal of Applied Nutrition, Volume 36, Number 1, l984, by Dr. Woodrow Monte:

"Ethanol, the classic antidote for methanol toxicity, is found in natural in natural food sources of methanol at concentrations 5 to 500,000 times that of the toxin. Ethanol inhibits metabolism of methanol and allows the body time for clearance of the toxin through the lungs and kidneys."

There is no ethanol in aspartame! Dr. Ralph Walton just discussed this issue in Discover Magazine, October issue: How Sweet It Isn't: "The August article "Hitting the Sweet Spot" (The Chemistry of ..Artificial Sweeteners) supports the safety of aspartame and gives credence to the half truths often espoused by the diet food industry. While it is true that both aspartame and fruit yield small amounts of methanol, in fruit the methanol is accompanied by ethanol, a natural antidote, and bound to pectin which renders it unavailable to humans. In aspartame the methanol is unopposed, readily available, and ultimately metabolized to formaldehyde, which cannot be eliminated and hence accumulates in the body. It is not accurate to claim, as does your article, that aspartame "has consistently been declared safe" or that "no concerns have held up under scrutiny." My own double-blind study on adverse reactions to aspartame, published in Biological Psychiatry, should raise legitimate questions about the safety of this product."

Does this mean that the research of Tufts Health & Nutrition Letter never gets further than industry propaganda. Shame on you. You should know better.

Further about seizures all you have to do is look at the FDA's own report of 92 documented symptoms on aspartame to see even they list four types of seizures. You will find this on www.dorway.com along with the RAO Study which was pivotal in the approval of aspartame. A 52 week oral toxicity study where 7 infant monkeys were fed aspartame showed 5 had grand mal seizures and one died. Guess who the monkey is now?

The manufacturers of aspartame have been telling whoppers since the beginning http://www.wnho.net/whopper.htm but after almost a quarter of a century don't you think the world knows we are dealing with a deadly neurotoxin that damages DNA? When you damage DNA you can destroy humanity.

Tufts Medical School should be publishing their claim to fame is Dr. H. J. Roberts who has saved the lives of millions by declaring aspartame disease a global plague. Instead we have Tufts Media, using this name, putting out a health and nutrition letter full of lies to defend industry.

Today all eyes are on New Mexico where the Environmental Improvement Board has granted a hearing to ban aspartame based on the fact that aspartame violates state and federal adulteration laws http://www.rense.com/general67/aspar.htm The petitioner is Stephen Fox. What a shame that consumers have to take matters in their own hands to rid the planet of aspartame because the manufacturers of this neurotoxin can influence regulatory agencies, professional organizations they fund, and publications like tufts to stumble the public.

Even as late as l985, the FDA's own toxicologist, Dr. Adrian Gross, told Congress that aspartame beyond a shadow of a doubt can trigger brain tumors and brain cancer, and that it violated the Delaney Amendment which forbid putting anything in food you know will cause cancer. Congressional Record SID835: 131 (August 1, l985) In original studies aspartame triggered brain, mammary, uterine, ovarian, pancreatic, testicular and thyroid tumors. And once again as an impeccable Italian study shows aspartame to be a deadly, deadly multiipotential carcinogen the aspartame industry continues to lie and ignore the study. Federal regulatory agencies will do nothing because of the influence of the aspartame industry. The FDA in this country knows everything there is about aspartame but they are nothing but the handmaiden of Big Pharma. They are simply bureaucrats who want to become plutocrats. They are the cause of unsafe food and drugs while they attack our safe vitamins and herbs. Industry in Europe now supply vitamins to the public full of aspartame to keeping the public poisoned.

Anyone defending this neurotoxin will be exposed just as you have been today. You might be interested to know that Cori Brackett, co-founder of Sound and Fury Productions was one of those people reading a web site about aspartame and MS. She was a heavy diet cola drinker and was diagnosed with MS with one of the largest lesions on record. She abstained from aspartame, walked out of her wheelchair, and went on to film Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World, http:// www.docworkers.com Eight months later her large lesion was all but gone. And Tufts would cover-up the MS and Aspartame connection!
